The North Daviess R-3 Board of Education set the tax rate hearing to begin at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the high school conference room in Jameson.

During other business at their regular meeting held July 14, Mrs. Morris reported the final enrollment during the 2008-2009 school was 74 students in K-12; and 10 students in preschool.
Mrs. Morris reported that the summer building improvements were almost finished and will be completed on time. She also presented previous quotes on tuck-point repair costs on both buildings.
Bills were approved.
The board voted to include Gilman City in the school’s vo-tech bus route at a cost of $4,500 that is to be applied to the driver’s salary for the school year 2009-2010.
The following bids for services were accepted: diesel fuel from MFA Oil by a vote of 5 yes; 1 abstain; milk from A&E; pest control from Mefford; fire extinguisher continued from A1 Economy Fire Protection; trash removal from Veolia Environmental Services.
The board voted to adhere to the federal guidelines for the lunch program by a vote of 6 yes and 1 no.
The board accepted the presented handbook changes in the following categories: student graduation awards, arrival time, college visits, and electronic devices.
The board carried a motion that the board will assure that the school district will follow the IDEA Guidelines for the special education program. By a vote of 6 yes, 1 no.
School will start on Aug. 19.
Mrs. Morris reported on repairs that would need to be done to the school van.
Tammy Dustman was offered a third/fourth grade teaching contract for the school year.
During administrative reports, Mrs. Weldon said he students went to the Royals game and had a very good time.
Mrs. Morris reported that the total cost for the new sewer and installation fees would be at $5,000 for the high school building.
