From July 10-17, the Gallatin FCCLA Senior Parliamentary Procedure team attended and competed at the 2009 FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn. This year’s conference had the largest attendance yet with just over 5,600 delegates from across the nation. While in Nashville, the Parli Pro team was able to see some of the sights. One of the highlights was a visit to the Grand Ole Opry.

On July 17, the Senior Parli Pro team was awarded a gold medal for their performance at the national STAR Events competition. STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. Specifically, the Parliamentary Procedure event is a team event which recognizes chapters that develop a working knowledge of parliamentary law and the ability to conduct an FCCLA business meeting.

The Gallatin Senior FCCLA Parliamentary Procedure team is comprised of Wren Tolen, daughter of David and Misse Tolen; Sydney Elbert, daughter of Chris and Shelley Elbert; Alexandra Burge, daughter of Tim and Nan Burge; Kale Hefley, son of Vance and Julie Hefley; Taylor Porter, daughter of Clay Porter and Julie Nelson; Levi Michener, son of Tim and Karla Michener; Tye Humphrey, daughter of Dr. Stan and Jan Humphrey; and Megan Chadwick, daughter of Darrel and Rhonda Chadwick. Also attending the meeting was chapter adviser Becky Adkison and chapter parents Shelley Elbert and Karla Michener.
