The Fireballz Fastpitch softball team for the 14 and under girls won the World Series National Mid-West Championships. The team competed in the four day event in Kansas City and Basehor, Kan. The event started July 9, with the opening ceremonies and the introduction of the 125 teams from Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado, Kansas and Missouri in attendance.

Following the introduction of teams, the Kansas City Sky-Divers parachuted into the Tiffany Hills Sport Complex and the motivational speaker was Kelly Kretschman, who was a member of the 2004 gold medalists and 2008 silver medalists for the United States Women’s Softball team.

The 14 and under C Division had 44 teams competing in the three day competition. The Fireballz, coached by Bill and Ted Clemmons and Buckey Miller, led the team to an undefeated record, only allowing six runs in the five bracket games before going into the final championship games.

Fireballz beat the GRC Storm by one run in the second of the two game championship.

Aubrey Nelson received the MVP Award during the first bracket setting game and Morgan Horvatin was awarded the offense player trophy at the final game of the series.

Fireballz Fastpitch softball team is based out of King City with team members from Gallatin, King City, Albany and Maryville. Gallatin members of the Fireballz team are Marissa McNeely, Kaitlyn Hefley, Morgan Horvatin and Aubrey Nelson.
