Students in North Central Missouri College’s Upward Bound program, including Ashley Huffman of rural Gallatin, recently traveled to Atlanta, Ga., as a part of their summer residential program and visited the World of Coca-Cola.
The visit to World of Coca-Cola was sponsored and funded by Peter Trombley with the Trenton Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Some of the things they experienced while at World of Coca-Cola was the history of Coca-Cola, past marketing memorabilia, the bottling process, a 4-D movie clip, and product samples from around the world.
Upward Bound is an externally funded pre-college program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education (TRiO). NCMC enrolls 50 students from Chillicothe, Hamilton, Gallatin, Tri-County of Jamesport, Grundy R-5, and Trenton High Schools in Upward Bound, which is designed to provide academic instruction, motivational skills, and other support services necessary to give those students an extra push toward attending college.
