The Northwest Vipers 8 & Under machine pitch baseball team battled the heat and a tough field of teams to win the Father’s Day Special hosted by Midwest Sports Productions and held last weekend in Basehor, Kan.

The Vipers outscored opponents, 54-12, in winning all three pool play games and advanced to the single elimination tournament as the top seed. There, they won a rematch with the Kansas Rockers, 19-7, and claimed the tourney title with a 17-5 win over the Platte City Rockers.

One of the hitting stars for the Vipers last weekend was Winston’s Jacob Lewis.

In action over the weekend of June 13-14, the Vipers went 2-2 with a fourth place finish at the Cowtown Showdown held in Shawnee, Kan.

The Vipers take their 19-7 season record into the state tournament this weekend at Mill Creek Park in Independence.
