Thirty croquet enthusiasts enjoyed a perfect day for tournament competition when the 4th Annual Rockin B Croquet tournament was held on May 30.

Hosted by Billy Bob and Debbie Breeden, competition began at 8 a.m. and continued throughout the day with "pros" and "rookies"battling it out to play in finals competition.

Tournament winners for the "cutthroat" division were: first: Mike McNeely, Kearney; second: Greg Adams, Kansas City; third: Matt Hostetler, Kansas City; fourth: Debbie Breeden; fifth: Tina Daniel, Pattonsburg; and sixth: Harvey Clouse, Overland Park, Kan.

Winners in the Championship Doubles Flight were Billy Bob Breeden and Matt Smith, Warrensburg. First and second place winners were Johnny Nichol, Warrensburg, and Nick Zink, Warrensburg.

Matt Smith and Nick Zink hosted the 9th Annual Pelican Ridge Croquet Tournament in Warrensburg on May 16. A new format was designed for tournament play by grouping a "rookie," "intermediate" and "pro" player together for a team competition. With an interesting playing strategy, the team of Matt Smith, Warrensburg, Deborah Millican, Lees Summit, and Jessica Roy, Brimson, were named tournament champs. The team of Nick Zink, Warrensburg, Phil Sullivan, Warrensburg, and Harvey Clouse, Overland Park, were named second place winners.

The Indian Open Croquet Tournament was held in Tulsa, Okla., on Memorial Day weekend. Intense competition over a three day playing schedule ended with Missouri First Flight player Billy Bob Breeden, Gallatin, winning two first place trophies in the singles and doubles competition.
