Funeral services for Helen Yost were held June 6, at the Church of Christ. Burial was in Odessa Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ, Odessa, and/or Crossroads Hospice, Kansas City.
Helen L. Yost, 83, Odessa, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the Monterey Park Nursing Center in Independence.
She was born Jan. 11, 1926, in the community of Girdner in Squires, the daughter of Alva Robert Bozarth and Rebecca Jane Lewis Bozarth. She was a graduate of Pattonsburg High School
On Nov. 2, 1946, she married Lawrence W. Yost at the United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Kan. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2007.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Yost was a member of the Church of Christ, Odessa. When she first moved to Odessa she was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she provided quilts for the Lord Acre sales. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She owned her own ceramic shop in her home for a number of years.
Survivors include one daughter, Darla Deatherage, Odessa; three sisters, Ruby Lucille Pugh, Altamont, Margaret Francis Sellers, Center, and Linda Ann Young, Louisiana, Mo.; two brothers, Robert Eugene Bozarth, Rayville, and Lewis Allen Bozarth, Excelsior Springs; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
