The 71st annual meeting of Farmers’ Electric Cooperative will be held Tuesday, June 9, at the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center in Chillicothe.
"We will be covering several topics at this year’s annual meeting, including a discussion on electric rates, plus the ‘Our Energy, Our Future’ campaign," said Mike Sanders, Farmers’ Electric CEO. "There is additional information our members need to be aware of pertaining to national legislation that would have a significant impact on their monthly bill should it be approved by Congress and signed into law by the President."
Registration for the annual meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Board president Ron Cornett will call the meeting to order at 7 o’clock.
Three directors will be elected to the cooperative’s board of directors. The cooperative’s Committee on Nominations, elected by members who attended last year’s annual meeting, nominated Cornett, representing District 1, which covers all or parts of Daviess, Harrison, Gentry and DeKalb counties; Warren Hoyt, District 4, which consists of all parts of Livingston and Grundy counties; and Richard Anderson, District 5, which consists of all or parts of Carroll and Lafayette counties.
The business meeting will include presentation by Cornett, Sanders, Steve Shoot, FEC’s Manager of Members Services, and FEC attorney Dana Macoubrie.
"One of our presentations at the annual meeting will be on Take Control & Save," Sanders said. "This program will outline some of the steps you can take to lower your energy usage at your home or business."
Prior to the business meeting members who register will receive a bucket with several compact fluorescent bulbs, plus several additional gifts. Members can also enjoy a free Dairy Queen ice cream sandwich in the commons area of the high school.
At the conclusion of the annual meeting a number of prizes will be given away. The grand prize winner this year will have the choice of a 52-inch big screen television, a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, a double oven or a front-loading washer and dryer. A concession stand will be in operation in the high school commons area. Once the business meeting begins the Chillicothe FCCLA chapter and members of the Cornerstone Church will provide a Kids Fun Zone for the younger members of the cooperative.
