May has been a very busy month. May 10 was the start of National Nursing Home Week. We had a very good attendance at our Mother’s Day Tea. Over 40 residents and family members attended. The theme was wedding day memories. Many residents displayed wedding and anniversary pictures. Refreshments were served. Maria Bickford was dressed as a future bride. She tossed her bouquet, which was caught by Cheryl Osborn.

Monday was Fabulous 50s Day. There was a car show. We served root beer floats and played bingo.

Tuesday was P.J. Day. Department heads arrived bright and early at 5 a.m. to cook breakfast for staff and residents.

Wednesday was Mexican Fiesta Day with a pinata filed with candy. The residents had fun taking a whack at it. We had fruit juice marguerites and Dave Schlegel, our new maintenance man, did the Mexican hat dance. It was a fun filled day.

Thursday was Sports Day which was a real hit. The Gallatin High School band, plus junior high cheerleaders and flag girls were here. There were lots of smiles on the resident’s faces. We had our own staff cheerleaders, you go, girls!

Friday was Family Barbecue Western Day. The cooks prepared a great meal. Nadine Watts, Richard Hogan and Harold Shopbell provided the entertainment. We had a great time. National Nursing Home Week at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab was a huge success.

We appreciate all who helped.
