Saturday’s sectional track and field meets in classes 1 and 2 shortened the list of local athletes heading to the MSHSAA Track and Field Championships this weekend at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.

Tyler Brackett and Kelly Critten will represent Gallatin High School at the state meet in the boys long jump and 200-meter dash, and girls triple jump.

Brackett added a sectional title to the district title he won in the Class 2 long jump by jumping 19’11.75" on Saturday in Richmond. He also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in a new GHS school-record time of 23.0 seconds. In doing so, he beat both runners who finished ahead of him at the district meet.

Brackett will compete at state in the 200-meter prelims at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. His long jump event will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Critten placed third at sectional in the girls triple jump at 31’9" and will compete at state in that event at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Jaclyn Ray of North Daviess finished fourth at her Class 1 sectional in the long jump (14’8.5") and will compete at state at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Gib Wray of Tri-County finished third at his Class 1 sectional in the 110-meter high hurdles and will compete at state in Friday’s 12:50 p.m. prelim.

Gallatin’s Colton Selby finished seventh in the long jump at sectional (18’4") but did not qualify for state.
