The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety presented a check for $250 to the students of Gallatin High School for their successful "Battle of the Belt" road safety campaign held last fall. The program, sponsored by the Missouri Department of Transportation, was designed to help reduce the number of motor-vehicle-related injuries and fatalities among Missouri high school students by increasing safety belt use. A number of area high schools competed in this program, and Gallatin High School won the Northwest District’s Highest Overall Usage award for recording a 94.44% seatbelt usage following their educational campaign.

Present for the check presentation were, front row, from left: Megan Chadwick, Tye Humphrey, Wren Tolen and Shelby Chadwick; second row: Lance Rains (with Green Hills Regional Planning) and Connie Hale (Missouri Department of Transportation); third row: Kristin Critten, Abbi Porter, Bailey Bozarth and Abbey Ray; back row: Taylor Porter, Kale Hefley, Logan Henderson, Colton Selby, Riley Vanatta and Sydney Elbert.
