On May 4, the Gallatin FFA Chapter held the 64th annual Chapter Banquet. Megan Chadwick began the night with opening ceremonies. Hunter Prentice gave the invocation. The awards ceremony began with appreciation certificates, then freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior awards, followed by STAR and scholarship awards.

The following freshmen received the Greenhand Degree: Jacob Bell, Hayden Bott, Gibson Bott, Kristin Critten, Leta Eaton, Joseph Flanders, Justin Flanders, Bethany Harris, Ashley Huffman, Jordan Jeffers, Kara Stanley, Riley Vanatta, Kaitlyn Wilson and Elizabeth Thomas.

The following sophomores received their Chapter FFA Degree: Breanne Brammer, Brendon Cosgrove, Len Deutschman, Kyanna Merritt, Rebecca Mott and Danielle Ness.

The following seniors received their State FFA Degree: Kelly Critten, Robert Rhoades, Kyle Croy, Kegan Merritt, Derrick Sprague, Lee Deutschman, Kaddie Mott and Maggie Strange.

Receiving the Chapter Scholarship Medals were: Courtney Ray, Megan Chadwick, Derrick Sprague, Kaddie Mott, Carly Boyd, Casey Alden, Shelby Chadwick, Breanne Brammer, Kristin Critten, and Bethany Harris.

Members receiving the Chapter Leadership Awards were: Kelly Critten, Megan Chadwick, Derrick Sprague, Maggie Strange, Hunter Prentice, Danielle Ness, Shelby Chadwick, Lee Deutschman, Len Deutschman, Kelsey McLaughlin, Ryan Chadwick, Robert Rhoades, John Lollar, and Jacob Gienapp.

Joyce Cox presented the Gallatin FFA scholarship to Megan Chadwick. Alicia Chrisman presented the Star Greenhand Award to Kristin Critten. Missy Chadwick presented the Outstanding Sophomore to Breanne Brammer. Lori McLaughlin presented the Outstanding Junior to Casey Alden. Chuck Weldon presented the DeKalb award to Kyle Croy. Kyle Croy and Derrick Sprague received the Agricultural Mechanics award.

Jim Ruse and Chris Elbert presented the STAR chapter Agri-Science award and STAR Chapter Placement awards to Kelly Critten and Kyle Croy respectively. Lee Deutschman was the recipient of the STAR Chapter Agribusiness Award presented by Wes Strange. Sandra Alden presented the STAR Chapter Farmer to Casey Alden. Wes Strange gave the Blue & Gold Award to Kelsey McLaughlin and Maggie Strange.

Clint Vanatta awarded the BTC Bank SAE Scholarship to Brendon Cosgrove. Megan Chadwick presented the Supporter of the Year Award to the Cornelius Family. Johnnie Black presented the Frost Automotive Senior Award, to Derrick Sprague. Johnnie Black created this award to honor a senior who has excelled in the field of Ag Mechanics, it consists of $100 worth of tools to assist the student’s career in this field.

The Gallatin FFA Chapter had three contest teams qualify for state competition. The livestock team included: Breanne Brammer, Kyle Croy, Ryan Chadwick, and Casey Alden. The Entomology team members were: Kaddie Mott, Nicole Middaugh, and Myrick McLey. The Ag Mechanics team consisted of: Andrew Pierce, Derrick Sprague, and Kegan Merritt.

There were many FFA members receiving participation medals for district contest this year. Those receiving participation medals included: Kelsey McLaughlin, Kelly Critten, and Shelby Chadwick for Nursery Landscape; Megan Chadwick, Maggie Strange, and Robert Rhoades for Agronomy; Aubrey Walker, Riley Vanatta, Jordan Jeffers and Hunter Prentice in Forestry; Hunter Prentice for Floriculture; Danielle Ness and Rebecca Mott in Dairy Cattle; Len Deutschman, Ashley Huffman, Kristin Critten, and Bethany Harris in Dairy Foods; Jacob Bell, Kara Stanley, and Hayden Bott in poultry judging; Derrick Sprague, Andrew Pierce and Kegan Merritt for Ag Mechanics; Hillaree Barlow, Nicole Middaugh, Kaddie Mott, and Myrick McLey in Entomology; Breanne Brammer and Casey Alden in Livestock Judging; Kyle Croy received a group one individual rating in state competition for Livestock.

Megan Chadwick finished her term as chapter president and Area II Secretary. Breanne Brammer was recognized as Area II Reporter and Missouri Agribusiness Academy member.

Chapter members worked hard this year to have successful projects and earn Chapter Proficiency Awards. They include: Jacob Bell, Ag Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship; Haydon Bott, Poultry Production; Kristin Critten, Swine Production Entrepreneurship; Leta Eaton, Equine Science Placement Proficiency; Bethany Harris, Beef Production Entrepreneurship; Jordan Jeffers, Turf Grass Management Placement; Michelle Monteith, Agricultural Education Proficiency Award; Kara Stanley, Poultry Production Entrepreneurship; and Riley Vanatta, Wildlife Management Entrepreneurship.

Breanne Brammer was awarded the Equine Science, and Food and Science Technology Proficiency Award while Brendon Cosgrove was awarded Environmental Science and Natural Resources Management Proficiency. Len Deutschman received the Ag Sales Proficiency Award. Rebecca Mott received the Specialty Animal Production Proficiency Award. Danielle Ness was awarded the Agriculture Communications Proficiency and Ag Sales Entrepreneurship Proficiency Awards.

Casey Alden received the Fiber and Oil Crop Production and Forage Production Placement Proficiency Award and the Grain Production Placement Proficiency Award, Shelby Chadwick the Chapter Fruit Production and Nursery Operations Proficiency Awards. Brandon Hogan was awarded the Swine Production and Placement Proficiency and Nicole Middaugh received the Ag Services Entrepreneurship Proficiency. Hunter Prentice received the Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication Placement Proficiency, the Ag Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Proficiency, the Home and Community Development Proficiency, and Specialty Crop Production Proficiency Awards. Sierra Rainy took the Ag Services Placement Proficiency Award home while Aubrey Walker was awarded the Wildlife Management Placement Proficiency Award.

Concluding the proficiency section were: Megan Chadwick, Forage Production Entrepreneurship; Kelly Critten, Chapter Vegetable Production; Kyle Croy, Grain Production Entrepreneurship and Diversified Crop Production Entrepreneurship; Chris Huffman, Landscape Management Placement Proficiency Award; Kelsey McLaughlin, Beef Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award; Kegan Merritt, Diversified Ag Production Placement; Robert Rhoades, Diversified Livestock Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award; Derrick Sprague, Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication Entrepreneurship Award, the Ag Mechanics Energy Systems Proficiency, and Emerging Ag Technology; and Maggie Strange, Veterinary Medicine Proficiency Award.

During Chapter Banquet, guests were invited to look at chapter scrapbooks, record books, officer books, individual and chapter awards, and display cases. The display cases were made by shop students and contained donated antique tools. The woodwork was designed and built by Jacob Gienapp, Sarah Smith, Derrick Feigly, and Jordan Phelps. Donations were made by Don Ray, Loyd Hartpence, Jacob Gienapp, Kyle Croy, and Wes Strange.

The Gallatin FFA Chapter had an outstanding year. The officer team and chapter members appreciate the community for their dedication and support for agriculture and the FFA.
