Gallatin R-5 senior Courtney Ray signed a letter of intent on Friday to attend Southwest Community College in Creston, Iowa, where she will participate in women’s basketball.

Ray finished her high school career as Gallatin’s all-timer leader in steals (318) and sixth all-time scorer (1,103 points in109 games). She helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 21-7 record and district title game in 2008-09.

"I saw Courtney play last summer, and really love her work ethic," said SWCC head coach Buck Scheel. "We look for her to come in and immediately put tremendous pressure on our returnees," he added.

Southwest Community College competes in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference, and is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II. SWCC improved from 7-23 to 12-18 last season in a conference that produced three teams in the NJCAA Divsion II top 20 a year ago.
