This week, the Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA) announced Breanne Brammer of Gallatin has been chosen as one of the 2009 Missouri Agribusiness Academy members.
Breanne is a student at Gallatin High School and is the daughter of Dennis and Kim Brammer. The Agribusiness Academy, in its 22nd year, will provide a career building program to 30 high school sophomores from across Missouri.
"Breanne and her fellow members of this year’s Agribusiness Academy are the future of agriculture in Missouri. Agribusiness Academy members are truly the up and coming leaders of tomorrow and I commend them for learning more about the agriculture business in our state," said Jon Hagler, director of MDA. "Agriculture is indeed in good hands with students likes these. I am confident that this vital industry will continue to be the number one economic driver for our state."
Nearly all of the Academy graduates have gone on to pursue careers in agriculture and now hold leadership positions in state and national 4-H and FFA offices, campus organizations and agribusiness across Missouri. The Missouri Agribusiness Academy, established in 1988 by MDA, annually awards academy memberships through a competitive written application and oral interview process. This year academy members will tour St. Louis agribusiness operations June 8-12.
