The sixth annual NCMC High School Art Show is now displaying 136 pieces from students from Gallatin, Gilman City, LaPlata, Lathrop, Milan, North Daviess, Princeton, Southwest Livingston County R-I, and Trenton. Criteria for acceptance to the show included evidence of pre-college artistic ability, projects that fit the category of Fine Art, and overall presentation.
Winner of the Best of Show award was Sam Brickey of Gallatin High School with his scratchboard drawing of a tiger. His prize was a $350 scholarship to North Central Missouri College. Winner of the Second Best of Show award was Lillian Palmer of Gilman City High School with her color photograph of a pear; her prize was a $250 scholarship to NCMC. Only high school seniors were eligible for the Best of Show scholarship awards.
Gallery Director Jim Norris said, "We are very pleased with this year’s show and feel that the large number of works that were accepted is a great indicator of the abilities of area high school art students and their instructors."
The show is open to the public in the Dorris Rider Art Gallery, located in the Frey Administrative Center on the NCMC campus, through May 15. Regular gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
