Daniel Froman, 64, Gallatin, has posted $100,000 cash bond, on 22 felony charges of stealing grain and three felony counts of grain dealer fraud. Arraignment is set for 9 a.m. Friday, May 22, before Judge Jason Kanoy. The charges are in connection with the closing of Gallatin Grain Company in February 2009, due to an inability to pay debts, as reported last week.

Susan Collins, 46, Raytown, was arrested May 3 for misdemeanor DWI. She was held for 12-hours detoxification, and a summons was issued.

Devon Myers, 21, Breckenridge, was arrested May 2 for misdemeanor DWI, held for 12-hours detoxification, and a summons was issued.

Jeremy Hunter, 30, Jameson, was arrested May 3 on a class D felony of property damage first degree. He posted $15,000 bond.

Martin Diaz Castillo, 27, Milan, was charged May 4 with failure to appear on a felony charge of no valid license. He posted $2,500 bond.

Jamar Meeks, 27, Wichita, Kan., was charged April 28 with misdemeanor no valid license and posted $500 bond.

James Brendle, 33, Trenton, Ohio, was arrested April 30 on a probation violation for an original felony charge of passing bad checks. Bond was denied.

County Commission

Ben Becerra, sheriff, met with the commission regarding an insurance claim filed against the county by Ron Dickson.

Bills were audited and paid.

Lloyd Riley, Monroe Township, met with the commission regarding needed culvert repairs.

Leonard Foster, Shafer, Kline and Warren, met with the commission presenting preliminary plans for the electrical project.

Annie Gibson, prosecuting attorney, met with the commission regarding the Department of Agriculture meeting scheduled and the Dickson claim.

Kevin Heldenbrand met with the commission regarding BRO project 31 paperwork.

David Cox moved to add a provision to the personnel policy, retroactive to January 1, 2009; part-time employees hired in 2009 or employees whose status changes after January 1, 2009, will receive no benefits. Danny Heldenbrand seconded. Cox – yes; Heldenbrand – yes; Critten – yes.

Linda Houghton, Public Administrator, filed her annual certificate of training.

Associate Circuit Court

Casey Warren Burnett, 18, Cameron, was charged April 29 with two felony counts of burglary, five felony counts of theft, and five misdemeanor counts of theft and property damage in connection with the theft of 10 chainsaws from the Bontrager Shop at Jamesport in December, 2008. A co-defendant, Shaun Aaron Burnett, was arrested Feb. 5 for receiving stolen property in DeKalb County and charged with the same offenses. A warrant has been issued.

Rebecca D. King, Gallatin, was charged April 29 with two felony counts of passing bad checks.

Traffic Fines

The following are traffic cases which were heard in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County involving a plea of guilty without contest and payment by mail of the standard fine plus court costs. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside outside of Missouri was $622.50 for seven tickets. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside in Missouri was $571.50 for six cases. Court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $58.50 for moving traffic violations. Missouri defendants, offenses and fines are listed below:

Civil Court

Breach of contract: A consent judgment was entered for Harrison County Hospital and against Jon Hyatt. A default judgment was entered for Asset Acceptance and against Frank Sgambato. Two cases were dismissed by parties, American Express vs. Ronald Dickson, and Capital One Bank vs. Earnest H. Horvatin.

Suit on account: A consent judgment was entered for Capital One and against Beverly Kindelberger. Asset Acceptance vs. William D. Snyder was dismissed by parties.

Circuit Court

Michael Cottrell vs. Cheryl Whitt etal was dismissed April 23 without prejudice.

Dustin Vanasse etal vs. Ronald D. Kennedy etal was dismissed April 23 with prejudice.
