Oath of Office was administered by the clerk to newly elected board members Cindy Ball, Jerry Lusk and Randy Turner during an organizational meeting held by the Winston Trustees on Monday, April 20.

The board agreed to authorize all board members – Arvella Eaton, Bill Michael, Jerry Lusk, Cindy Ball and Randall Turner – as signers on the bank accounts and to access the safety deposit box. Lucille Lusk, clerk, is to continue as a signer on the general and street fund accounts, and Tom Kober, utilities clerk, is to continue on the utilities accounts.
With Hobart Hiley out of town for an undetermined time, Jerry Lusk moved to hire Dean Lawson to do the grading at $15 per hour until May 4, and to post a request for bids for a grader operator and also for someone to mow the park for the remainder of 2009, with bids to be opened at the May 4 meeting. Dean Lawson reported that the batteries on the grader need replaced. Bill Michael will purchase them and other required supplies.
Jerry Lusk and Bill Michael scheduled Wednesday at 1 p.m. for dog patrol.
Randy Turner suggested that the clerk contact Sue Manion of Manion Properties or Clyde Hahn at the City of Cameron about a possible plan to set up a multi-county animal shelter in Cameron.
At Chairman Eaton’s request, Randy Turner agreed to keep an eye on the park to discourage vandalism and misbehavior.
Board members were asked to take a look at the construction and trash at the corner of Second and Ballinger for discussion of problems there.
Dean Lawson mentioned that there is a lot of tree overhang on the streets.
