In 2007, the rate for melanoma had risen to 59,940 cases. The death rate had also risen from 7,800 to 8,110 respectively. Taking into consideration all forms of skin cancer, one in five Americans will have skin cancer sometime in their lifetime.

Since one in five will be diagnosed with skin cancer, it is very important to get your skin checked on a regular basis.

The staff at the Daviess County Health Department want to do their part to help identify skin cancer in its earliest stages, when it is the most curable, by offering yearly skin cancer screenings. This screening is not diagnostic, but rather a screening to refer suspect moles or lesions to a licensed physician. We will be offering this service on Monday, May 11, and Friday, May 15 (by appointment only). If you would like more information or to set up an appointment, please call 660-663-2414 or 1-866-663-2414.
