County Commission

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, reported that they are applying rip rap to bridges and culverts.

Bills were audited and paid.

Becky Simpson, Extension Council, met with the commission reporting that the Daviess-Caldwell County agreement will remain the same.

Bob Harlow, Monroe Township, met with the Commission requesting an extension to the time allowed for brush removal. Granted.

Bob Burnett, Snyder and Associates, reported that he has received the necessary deeds and offer letters for BRO 30. Matt Nalle, Grand River Township landowner, met with the commission and Mr. Snyder regarding the construction. They also discussed scheduling the next project for construction.

Reta Rains, collector, met with the commission concerning tax collections. She reported that the 2008 collections were at 92%, consistent with past years.

Robin Wood, Daviess County Nursing & Rehab, met with the Commission reporting that the new management has installed a new washer and dryer. New wallpaper will be placed this week and carpet next week. New beds and mattresses have been ordered and fourteen new employees have been hired.

In the afternoon, the commission inspected roads in Jamesport and Liberty Townships.

Circuit Court

Civil cases filed: Faith Kresco Sullivan, Gallatin, vs. Jason Davis Corley, Bronte, Texas, dissolution of marriage; Elizabeth Ann Strein, Altamont, vs. Dennis Alan Strein, Altamont, dissolution of marriage; Darren DuPriest vs. MFA Oil Company, property damage.

The following cases were heard by Judge Jason Kanoy on April 15:

Karolis J. Laucevicius plead guilty to amended charges of possession of controlled substance, class C felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, class A misdemeanor. On the felony, he received a sentence of seven years in the Department of Corrections with recommendation he be placed in ITC. On the misdemeanor, he was sentenced to time served (90 days) at defendant’s expense.

Jeffrey T. Pestock received two five-year sentences in the Department of Corrections, to run consecutively, on two counts of possession of controlled substance. The execution of sentence was suspended and he received five years probation with a special condition of serving 120 days shock time, credit for time served, at defendant’s expense.

A warrant was issued for Corey A. Hines on April 17 upon information that he has absconded. The charges are possession of controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.

A warrant was issued for Shelah J. Breault on April 13 for probation violations. The charges are burglary and forgery.

The following cases were heard by Judge James Valbracht on April 16:

Johnny Bauman plead guilty to tampering with motor vehicle and property damage. He received a suspended imposition of sentence and five years probation.

A sentence assessment report was ordered for David D. Karstens, who plead guilty on a plea agreement to possession of controlled substance at a correction facility.

A change of venue to Livingston County was granted to Jeffery Allan Brandon for possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Sheriff’s Office

Brett McKown, 27, Rochesterville, Minn., was arrested April 17 for misdemeanor possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. He posted $750 bond.

Jorge David Jimenez Garcia, 39, Oklahoma City, Okla., was arrested April 21 for no valid license and was released to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Lance Herring, 26, Braymer, was charged April 17 with felony domestic assault and three counts of misdemeanor domestic assault. He is being held on $15,000 bond.

Brent Simmons, 22, Kansas City, was arrested April 18 for misdemeanor no valid license. He posted $500 bond.

Associate Circuit

Brett W. Lang, Gallatin, was charged April 14 with one count of non-support, class D felony.

Martin A. Diaz Castillo, Milan, was charged April 17 with no valid license, third offense, class D felony.

Traffic Fines

The following are traffic cases which were heard in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County involving a plea of guilty without contest and payment by mail of the standard fine plus court costs. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside outside of Missouri was $990.50 for 18 tickets. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside in Missouri was $916.50 for 17 cases. Court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $58.50 for moving traffic violations. Missouri defendants, offenses and fines are listed below:
