Mr. Gatton was born Sept. 6, 1942, in Leon, Iowa, to the late William and Iva (Billings) Gatton.
He was a graduate of Polo High School and a veteran of the Army.
On March 5, 1966, he was united in marriage to Barbara Rosenbum, who survives of the home.
Mr. Gatton was self-employed in home improvement.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, a great-nephew, Hayden, and a sister-in-law, Dolores.
Survivors include three daughters, Krista Gatton of Excelsior Springs, Cindy Juekette of Jefferson City; Sandy Mitchell of Rowlett, Texas; four brothers, Howard, Charles, Ivan and Bill of Gallatin; five sisters, Violet Robison, Carol McDonald, Sherry Lohr, Lynna Oliphant, Willa Minski; and eight grandchildren.
