Mr. Silkett has served as high school principal at Pattonsburg since 2007. His superintendent contract begins July 1, 2009.

Holly Brady’s contract as elementary principal was renewed.

The board approved the 2009-2010 calendar with the first day of school being Aug. 19, 2009.

The revised substitute teaching list was approved.

Bills in the amount of $144,832.55 were approved for payment.

The following program evaluations were approved: vocational, ag, business, FACS.

During principal reports, Mr. Silkett congratulated Ethan Teel, seventh grade, and Gage Davis, eighth grade, for each placing first in the D.A.R. essay contest at their respective grade levels. Carly Cornett was recognized for her first place entry in the ELKS Lodge essay contest at both the local level and the district level. Her entry has been submitted to the state contest.

Mrs. Brady discussed professional development, which was presented to the elementary staff by Marilyn Wherli, Northwest Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC), regarding instructional strategies for at-risk students and Smartboard training. The district in-service was Feb. 27.

The board approved investing $200,000 in a six-month CD.

Health insurance for employees was discussed. The school currently has insurance with Mid-America Regional Council Insurance Trust (MARCIT). The Northwest Missouri MARCIT group is rebidding insurance again this year due to projections of significant increases in premiums.

Both the March and April board of education meetings have been rescheduled due to conflicts. The March meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. April meeting has been changed to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15.
