Kevin Corwin, 17, of Gallatin Boy Scout Troop 67, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a court of honor held Feb. 8, at the First Christian Church in Gallatin.
Kevin has been active in scouting for more than 10 years, having begun as a Tiger Cub in first grade and later earning the arrow of light, the highest award in cub scouting.
In attaining the rank of Eagle, he earned 35 merit badges, as well as several special awards, including the United States heritage award and a bronze palm.
Kevin has served Troop 67 in numerous leadership positions, including patrol leader, scribe, historian, quartermaster, assistant senior patrol leader, senior patrol leader, and troop guide. He is a tom-tom beater in the tribe of Mic-O-Say with the tribal name of Little Kiva Counter.
For his Eagle community service project, Kevin built a collection box for American flags which need to be retired, located it in the Daviess County courthouse, and sponsored a dedication ceremony for the box. He continues to collect the flags on the first floor of the courthouse and disposes of them properly.
Kevin is a junior at Gallatin High School and is the son of Mark and Vicki Corwin of Gallatin.
