However, many veterans are not aware of opportunities open for them, such as the new education program, health care, disability pensions for veterans and dependents, benefits for women veterans, home loan guaranty, nursing home care, burial and survivors benefits, among others.

For information on these and other benefits, Post 919 VFW, located at 919 Washington Street, Trenton, will host a meeting from 10 am. to 12 noon (or later) on Wednesday, March 4, to which all veterans and dependents are invited. Veterans need not be a member of any organization.

Future sessions scheduled for Trenton by Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion veteran information service officers are planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Saturday, June 13, and Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Hy Vee Food Store.

In addition, on Sunday, Sept.13, a special session for veterans, active duty personnel, their families and dependents will be held at the National Guard Armory on Industrial Road, just off Oklahoma Ave. (old Hwy. 65).
