Those concerns include: drivers of four-wheelers running on property other than their own; reports of people cutting wood on riparian land; general respect for public and private property; and a day care being used for residential purposes and not commercial.

In other business, bills were reviewed and paid.

The sixth month financial reports were reviewed and accepted.

A motion carried to send the 2007 contract back to the board of Public Water Supply District #1 to see if it can be signed and settled so the city of Pattonsburg can move on to 2008 and 2009 contracts.

Mayor Gene Walker signed a proclamation to recognize Boy Scout Anniversary week Feb. 1-7 to express appreciation to the Pony Express Council and the Boy Scouts of America for their dedication to America’s youth.

Economic Developer Richard Mooney gave his monthly progress report, stating that one business interest in particular is ready to sign a lease on at least one and possibly two shops downtown.

Mr. Mooney reported that the site selection process by the manufacturing firm is still active and ongoing. It is believed that a final decision will be made shortly.

He noted that he had been in contact with several different companies and government agencies in the last couple of weeks. He has been trying to find out if there is anything else that could be done to attract business to the community. Several options have been discussed and hopefully at least one or two can be implemented and will prove successful.

Mr. Mooney stated the available property listings on the Internet have averaged over 35 hits per week.

Those in attendance at the regular meeting of the Pattonsburg Board of Aldermen held Jan. 14, were Mayor Gene Walker; board members Lonnie Luke, Leonard Barr and Mark Smith; Water Superintendent Eddy Meador; City Clerk Karen Shepherd; and Economic Developer Richard Mooney.
