There were 12 members and one visitor present.

President Cyndi Johnson presided over the business meeting. Members discussed possible projects for the year as well as decided on the date for the quilt show they would like to host. The quilt show will be held during the Missouri Days Festival. The place is yet undetermined, but members did decide that they would again make baby or youth quilts to send to Children’s Mercy Hospital. The club would like to encourage anyone in the community that wishes to make a child size quilt to bring them to the Missouri Days Festival.

Doris Dickerson of Milan shared with the group about taking the baby and youth sized quilts that were donated during last year’s quilt show to Children’s Mercy. Four members had gone on the trip. The staff at Children’s Mercy was very appreciative. The ladies also had a nice lunch together and browsed through Rustic Yearnings quilt shop.

Over their holiday break, one of the members, Lucille Birdsong, passed away. The members decided to make a memorial contribution to the Grundy County Jewett Norris Library of a book or DVD set from Lucille’s favorite quilt makers.

Participating in Share and Tell were Doris Dickerson, Nila Ingraham, Ann Meservey, Gall Myntti, Rosalee Wright and Cyndi Johnson.

Cyndi Johnson gave the program on Convergence Quilts. She learned how to create this type of quilt from Ricky Tims. This unique style of quilting doesn’t use a pattern and each quilt turns out different. Cyndi used batik material for this project because it doesn’t have a right or wrong side, making the directions easier to follow.

The next meeting will be held on Feb. 5 at the TNT Investments office at 906 Min Street in Trenton. Annabel Baugher will present a program on basted applique. Members and anyone wishing to joint the group are to bring two different foot square materials, scissors, needle, thread and thimble.
