Funeral services for Kathryn Mourene Peery Greenway were held Saturday, Jan. 3, at the Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery, under the direction of the Bross and Spidle Funeral Home at Excelsior Springs. The family suggests donations to the Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Kathryn Mourene Peery Greenway, 91, of Excelsior Springs, died on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at the Excelsior Spring Convalescent Center, where she had made her home for the past 16 months.
Mrs. Greenway was born on Jan. 9, 1917, near Brimson, the daughter of William Homer and Anna Shaw Peery. She was a graduate of Kirksville College.
She taught in several rural schools in Grundy County, Auxvasse and Center School in Kansas City. She substituted in the Excelsior Springs School District for many years. She was married on June 13, 1948, near Trenton to Bobby V. Greenway, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicki A. Wright and Susan K. Dagley of Excelsior Springs; one brother, Stan Peery of Jamesport; two sisters, Virginia Tolle and Phyllis Anderson of Trenton; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
