The winter fuel assistance season has begun and Green Hills Community Action Agency has funds available for eligible clients in all nine counties it serves. The Missouri Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has two components: Energy Assistance/Regular Heating (EA) and Energy Crisis Assistance Program (ECIP).

EA provides one-time financial assistance to help pay heating bills for Missourians from October through March. After determining eligibility, EA benefits are based on income, family size and fuel source. Eligibility for EA also may qualify clients for additional financial assistance through ECIP, if they have a crisis.

GHCAA mailed applications to elderly and disabled clients in October and in November to other clients who received LIHEAP assistance last year. If you did not receive an application or if you have never applied for energy assistance, stop by your County Service Center to pick up an application. Daviess County service center telephone number is 660-663-3211.

When filling out the application, carefully follow the directions and fill it out completely. The most important things to remember are to sign and date the application, and send it with a copy of your fuel bill. When you have completely filled out the application, mail it to Green Hills Community Action Agency, P.O. Box 278, Trenton, MO 64683, ATTN: LIHEAP Department.
