An ordinance amending the city code adjusting the water rates for Gallatin received a first reading during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held Monday, Dec. 8, at city hall.

Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from Nov. 28 to Dec. 8 with the following reports taken and tickets given: one assault; one burglary; one warrant arrest; one stealing; one trespassing; one peace disturbance. There is one dog in the pound.

Bills in the amount of $119,359.48 were approved for payment.

The board voted to make Friday, Dec. 26, a holiday for city employees this year.

Discussion was held on the 2008 audit proposal. Scott Stephens was appointed city auditor for 2009.

Jeremy Holcomb was appointed to the Dockery Park Board to finish a term ending June 2009.

City Administrator Zac Johnson discussed some issues with the operation of the sewer plant.

Comments by aldermen were made about the 2009 budget.

Mayor Ballew attended Christmas in the Park. She stated attendance was down from previous years but felt that bad weather was the cause. She stated that the Park Board did a wonderful job decorating.

The board entered into closed session pursuant to hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting employees.
