According to Gallatin City Administrator Zac Johnson, one of the cutouts on the transformer had a crack in it and water from the snowstorm shorted it out and caused a fire. Lights were out for a portion of the town in the east section while the wires were disconnected and then a few residents were without lights a while longer, about three hours, while the problem was being fixed. City crews put the fire out and replaced the top of the pole.
