The accident happened at about 11:30 Sunday night on Unity Avenue in the Honey Creek bottoms about five miles southwest of Gallatin. Mr. Buckler said it had been a long time since he’d been on the gravel road and he’d forgotten about the sharp, 90 degree turn. His van slid off the gravel, got caught in a deep rut that formed a sort of lip on the edge of the road, and flipped over. Mr. Buckler said he felt lucky that he and three juvenile passengers, his nephew, and two of his nephew’s friends, were not injured except for some scratches. Law enforcement officers arrived shortly after the accident. No summons was issued. Mr. Buckler said the officers told him his was not the first wreck to occur at that particular sight. The right angle curve is marked by reflective road signs, but still catches people who are unfamiliar with the road unawares.
