Funeral services for Effie Waters will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Roberson Funeral Home, Pattonsburg. Burial will be in Coffey Cemetery, Coffey. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home where friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday. Effie Lee (Holcomb) Waters, 100, formerly of Coffey, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Mays’ Haven Care home in Chandler, Ariz. She lived at Liann’s Care Home in Scottsdale, Ariz. for 10 years.
Effie was born November 1, 1908, in Bethany, the daughter of Fredrick and Katy Lorrene (Timmons) Holcomb. On March 3, 1925, she married Lawrence Waters. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Effie and Lawrence farmed and raised livestock successfully in Daviess County until their retirement to Arizona in 1967. They were active in the Christian Church in Missouri and Arizona.
Survivors include one son, Leon Waters of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; one daughter, Betty Ellis of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one sister, Ethel Mae Price of Bethany; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
