According to Daviess County Conservation Agent Alan Bradford, last week’s deer totals were preliminary and incomplete. The following is an accurate total. Statewide total for deer taken was 200,674 (74,644 antlered bucks; 28,875 button bucks; and 97, 155 does).

This a decrease of 13,803 from last year. The record was set in 2006 with 235, 409.
High counties were Macon 4,020; Benton 3,611; and Texas 3,590.
There were four non-fatal accidents.
Northwest region totals were total deer 32,063 (13,246 antlered bucks, 3,950 button bucks, and 14, 867 does.) This is an increase of 1,268 from last year. High counties were Harrison 2,687; Linn 2,559; and Nodaway 2,474.
Daviess County took 2,355 deer (910 antlered bucks, 316 button bucks and 1,129 does.) This is up 111 from last year.
Counties surrounding Daviess County were Caldwell with 1,409 deer taken; DeKalb with 1,326; Gentry 1,564; Grundy 1,502; and Lvingston 1,835.
