Plant Manager Steve Reid told the Gallatin Board of Aldermen during their regular meeting held Nov. 24, that the company taking down the old water tower will be here on Dec. 2 and will dismantle the tower on Dec. 3.

Mr. Reid said the north well is currently down and new pumps are on order for the South Prospect sewer lift station. Delta Mobile will be coming in January to do the annual tests on the trucks. He added that all of the Christmas decorations are up.

Street Superintendent Teddy Holcomb commented that the city crew has been repairing the old dump truck and putting the sand spreader on it so that it can be used this winter. They have also put down millings on some of the gravel roads in town.

City Administrator Zac Johnson discussed purchasing a truck for the electric department. He has found a 2003 Chevy, half ton in Des Moines, Iowa. The board agreed to let him purchase the vehicle at his own discretion when he looks at it.

Mr. Johnson discussed the preliminary report from Snyder and Associates on the new water plant. The city will now look at different funding options.

Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from Nov. 10-24. Reports taken with tickets given are as follows: one accident, one runaway, one speeding, one stealing, one identity theft, and one no ATV permit. There are three dogs in the pound.

Bills in the amount of $39,391.64 were approved for payment.

Discussion was held on the 2009 park budget.

Scott Stephens presented the 2007 audit to the mayor and aldermen and discussion followed.

Mr. Johnson stated that the Gallatin Park Board submitted a resignation from a member and the board carried a motion to remove Ira Sloan from the park board.

Mayor Barb Ballew would like the board to consider giving the city employees Friday, Dec. 26, off as a holiday this year since it was declared a state holiday by Governor Blunt.
