1st Sgt. William Clark drills in Chillicothe. He lives in Cameron; his parents live in Pattonsburg. He graduated from Gallatin and Wentworth Junior College. He is with Battery B, 1-129th Field Artillery.

School in Kosovo is again in session. This year, according to some experts in Kosovo, is the best start of the school year in history.

1st Sgt. Clark said he is proud of what the unit is accomplishing, and that they will keep it up. He noted that quite a few soldiers rotated home over the past month, and each of them came back with a smile on their face after visiting and spending time with their family and friends.

1st Sgt. Clark wants to talk to the people back home about something that is very important to him and Capt. Holaday, and that is safety. In the past two weeks, it has really started to cool down in Kosovo, and snow could be on the ground very shortly. The same inclement weather is quickly approaching in Missouri, as well.

School has also started in Kosovo, meaning that the foot traffic, especially by children, is increasing as they move to and from school.

Rest assured that our soldiers are constantly trained on safety and will not be sent on mission without safety being addressed and given the proper amount of emphasis, 1st Sgt. Clark writes. Soldiers always wear the correct safety gear and they always wear their seatbelts while driving and on patrol. Safety is the number one priority, and the number one goal is to return every soldier to their family and friends safely.

"The Soldiers in Kosovo are committed to safety, are you?" writes 1st Sgt. Clark. "We ask for the same level of safety commitment from each of you back home. Do not drink and drive. Always wear your safety belt. Drive defensively, and be prepared to react to the improper actions of others. Check the weather forecast and plan for added travel time in nasty weather, or just stay at home if travel is not necessary. Take care of yourselves, we will take care of each other in Kosovo, and we will all reunite in Missouri before you know it."
