The 14 and under softball team Fireballz recently took second place in the Fall "C" Championships held at Adair Ball Park in Independence.

The team based out of King City is coached by Ted and Bill Clemmons and Buckey Miller. The girls fast pitch softball team ended the tournament with a 4-3 record and came in to the championship game after defeating the second and third ranked teams. Gallatin team members include eighth grader Marissa McNeely, seventh graders Morgan Horvatin and Kaitlyn Hefley and sixth grader Aubrey Nelson. McNeely plays position of catcher, while Horvinton pitches and plays short-stop. Hefley finds her place on the field at right field and Nelson plays at first base. The team finished the fall season in the Class "B" Tom Turkey Tournament, losing two games each by only one run. Traveling team action for the Fireballz will pick back up in January, 2009.
