Nearly 60 Gallatin R-5 graduates returned home to take part in the 1st Annual Gallatin Alumni Basketball Tournament held Saturday in the GHS gym.
The event, sponsored by the Gallatin Rotary Club, drew basketball grads from 1984 to 2008, and featured five men’s teams and two women’s teams.
The men’s team that combined the oldest group with the youngest won the tournament by defeating the 2002-06 group. Members of the winning team included Loren Adkins, Todd Steward, Jeff Donovan, Darren Hamilton, Daniel Madison, Scott Shipers, and Andy Ward.
Members of the second place men’s team were Robert Heldenbrand, Scott Wilkinson, Colby Swanstone, Duke Burge, Kyle Hefley, Dillon Bird and Kyle Andrew.
Other men’s teams included: (1993-94) Jamie Hunt, Chris Feiden, Sonny Painter, Jesse Bird, Will Salmon, David Woodruff, Eric Critten, Matthew Strasser and Mike Beck; (1995-97) Brett Steward, Eric Hamilton, Cody Bird, Brett Adkison, Ira Sloan, Scott Wiley, Zac Johnson and Ryan Lockridge; (1998-2001) Dane Worrell, Matt Adkison, Trey Whitt, Chad Sullenger, Neal Steward, Quentin Carroll, Joey Evans and Nathan Henderson.
The women’s teams split a pair of games. Participating were: (1993-98) Christy Wilson Grissom, Kim Ruse Rardon, Ashley Wilson Ishmael, Natalie Bird Salmon, Cindy Critten O’Rourke, Amanda Dixon Shubert, Devin Hamilton, Amy Woodruff and Miranda Eaton Ball; (1999-2008) Stacey Gatton, Rochelle Davitt, Roxi Davitt, Kayli Burrell Warner, Britney Hixson, Katie Ward, Trisha Sprague and Lacey Dixon.
