City Administrator Zac Johnson gave an update regarding the new water plant project to the Gallatin Board of Aldermen during their regular meeting held Oct. 15, at city hall.

He stated that he and Plant Manager Steve Reid had recently met with Snyder and Associates and are continuing to move through the design phase.

Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from Sept. 22 to Oct. 15. The following reports were taken and tickets given: two speeding; two expired license; one peace disturbance; one domestic; one failure to register vehicle; one warrant service; two improper backing; one J-turn; one no tail lights; two improper licenses. There are three dogs in the pound.

Chief Richards gave an update on the improvements to the pound.

Bills in the amount of $108,644.28 were approved for payment.

Discussion was held regarding the recent MARCIT review and the 100 block of South Market.

An ordinance authorizing the city administrator to sign and execute the non-exclusive tower attachment lease agreement with the Daviess County emergency telephone service 9-1-1 received first and second readings.

An ordinance adopting an identity theft prevention program for the City of Gallatin received first and second readings.

Discussion was held on the financial statement.

After discussion, the board carried a motion to remove Kerry McBroom from the park board.

The 2008 pool season was discussed. Nathan Curtis was paid $250 for additional services provided during the season.

Mr. Johnson commented on the repairs being made to the new water tower. He stated the recent boil order came about as a result of a breakdown in communication between the Public Water Supply District #2 and the City of Gallatin.

During comments by aldermen, there was an inquiry about upcoming major projects for city crews. The placement of the stop sign at the intersection of South Willow and Yates was discussed.

Comments were made regarding the method of how emergency information is released. Mr. Johnson stated the city has begun using Textcaster to broadcast timely information.

The board entered into closed session pursuant to legal actions and litigations and hiring, firing, disciplining or promoting employees.

City Clerk Autumn Acree was absent.
