The trustees of the Gallatin United Methodist Church have entered into a contract with Church Art Glass for restoration of the two large windows in the sanctuary, the windows flanking the large windows, and the window in the ceiling. Church Art Glass has indicated that they will commence work in the spring of 2009.

The entire project will be done as a single stage. Between funds already raised and pledges received, the church has raised over half of the total project. Arrangements have been made to borrow funds necessary to make full payment.

Fund-raising will continue until such time as sufficient funds have been collected to pay for the restoration and repay any funds that have been borrowed.

The church has contracted for the installation of replacement windows on the north and east sides of the church building as well as the glass in the pastor’s office. The installation of replacement windows will reduce the cost of the project and will greatly improve energy efficiency.

An inspection of the windows in the basement was done at the same time as a bid was received for installing the replacement windows. The inspection revealed that the windows were in bad condition and needed to be replaced. The basement windows will be replaced in November or December.

The church anticipates that sale of the stained glass panels that are being removed will pay for the cost of all the replacement windows.
