On Sept. 26, the Gallatin Police Department arrested 50-year-old Ronald A. Vachio on charges of failing to register as a sex offender and resisting arrest.
These charges were issued as a result of the Gallatin Police Department’s check of Mr. Vachio in response to his request for assistance from local charities.
The Gallatin Police routinely check individuals that request aid from local charities in an effort to identify wanted individuals that may be passing through small communities in an effort to evade detection.
During this investigation Gallatin Police Officers found that Mr. Vachio had been convicted of a sexual offence in Nebraska which required him to register as a sex offender. The investigation revealed that Mr. Vachio had no known address and had been living in Missouri sufficient time that under Missouri Law he was required to register with local law enforcement.
Ronald A. Vachio was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender (Class D Felony) and resisting arrest (Class A Misdemeanor). Warrants were requested by the Daviess County Prosecutor and Mr. Vachio is being held at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail in Pattonsburg.
