Another teacher was needed for the large number of students in the sixth grade, which has now been split into three classrooms.
Bills in the amount of $325,591 were approved for payment. The board went over the ledger report. The budget was amended to allow for the new sixth grade teacher and unanticipated repairs. The added expenses placed the school’s budget deficit at $107,000.
The school will be focusing on two areas, student improvement and teacher training, for the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP).
The board will hear a comprehensive testing report in October, at which time the improvement plans will be in place.
Mr. Ruse talked to the board about the tin fading on the upper level of the school gymnasium at the high school. The company that provided the tin has been contacted and will do the paint job.
The school is now connected to the EpeGS which is a grant application system, tied to the CSIP plan, and sponsored by the state. This is the first year R-5 has plugged into the detailed accountability network. Data about title programs has been fed into the system this year and next year information about special education will be gathered. Other school curriculum will be collected during the following years.
Dr. Mark White will evaluate the school district for building content and square footage in case of catastrophic loss in order to make sure the school has ample insurance coverage.
