The group sorted and marked sale items donated for the garage sale fund raiser to be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Nelson Mini Storage, in Gallatin. A homemade bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in conjunction with the fund raiser that day.

At the forum, the youth group met with church leaders and John Lynch. Trooper Lynch serves Daviess County with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Trooper Lynch gave an informational talk with the group in regards to drinking and driving and drug abuse. The youth from grades four through eight then held a question and answer session, along with a discussion time, led by Trooper Lynch.

Chi-Rho, in it’s continuing efforts to bring our youth together as Christians in service and fellowship, shared scripture and Christian discussion with First Christian Church Pastor Russ Hamilton. The non-denominational group, as their September service project, collected over 25 coats to be sent to a children’s group home.

During the business meeting time, Chi-Rho members were challenged to be a role model and leader for all area youth, and voted on hosting a youth night for Daviess County students in January 2009.

The members also had a thank you from the Princeton children’s group home, of which Chi-Rho’s collection of aluminum cans generated $55 for the home’s operation. Chi-Rho voted to send the balance of money from the aluminum collection for the Heifer Foundation in South Africa for a poverty stricken family.

The youth group ended with parents of Chi-Rho serving a hot dog supper. Pastor Robert Nelson of the Lake Viking Church, along with Pastor Hamilton, joined the youth group in their Christian activities as well as lending a hand to our local youth in spiritual guidance.

If you have a youth interested in joining the monthly non-denominational Christian group grades four through eight, please contact the First Christian Church at 663-3415 or youth leader Vera Nelson at 663-2801.
