The Pattonsburg Board of Education set the debt service levy and tax rate during their regular meeting held Aug. 18.

The school’s assessed valuation is $11,990,424. The proposed levy is as follows: Incidental Fund Levy 4.5830; Teachers Fund 0.0; Debt Service Fund Levy 0.5926; Capital Projects Fund 0.0. The total tax rate is 5.1756.

The board set the tax rate during the tax rate hearing as follows: $4.5830/$100 of assessed valuation for the operating levy and $0.5926/$100 assess valuation for the Debt Service Levy for a total tax levy of $5.1756. This is the same levy as for the 2007-2008 school year.

Richard Mooney presented information to the board regarding an Enhanced Enterprise Zone that the City of Pattonsburg, in a joint effort with the Daviess County Commission, is taking to bring economic growth to the area. He requested that Pattonsburg R-2 appoint one member of their board or staff to serve as a representative on the Enhanced Enterprise Zone board. Mrs. Cornett, superintendent, will be the school’s representative.

Mr. Silkett reported 76 students in grades 7-12. Mrs. Brady reported 94 students in grades K-6. The principals also discussed with the board about the Panther Den, a new program designed to improve student achievement.

Bills in the amount of $95,050.53 were approved for payment. The board approved the transfer of the following funds: Teachers; Fund 3; Fund 4.

The substitute teacher list for 2008-2009 was approved.

District contact personnel (DESE) was approved.
