Lightning severed electric power lines near the east entrance of Lake Viking last Thursday evening, causing a service outage for approximately 180 members of Farmers Electric Cooperative.

The outage occurred about 6 p.m. and lasted about 75 minutes, according to FEC spokesman Steve Shoot. Prompt repairs were made easier by the convenient location of the damaged power lines at the lake’s entrance.
