The tax levy for the Daviess County General Fund was lowered $0.2353 at the public tax levy hearing held Aug. 18.
This is a decrease of $0.05 per $100 valuation, from $0.17 in 2007 to $0.12 in 2008.
The new rate was unanimously approved by the County Commission, Lance Critten, Danny Heldenbrand and David Holcomb. The decrease in the tax levy is possible due to the savings that have been created by the regional jail
The total levies for 2008 are as follows: General Fund $0.12; Senior Services $0.05; and Senate Bill 40 $0.08.
In the Daviess County Tax Sale, 26 of the 51 properties offered at the south courthouse door on Monday were sold, according to Daviess County Collector Reta Rains. The properties are offered for sale for delinquent taxes on real estate.
