The tax rate hearing was held and the tax rate level set at 5.4448 with a vote of 5 yes and one no, during the regular meeting of the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education held Aug. 12 at the high school conference room in Jameson.

The financial statement was presented and bills paid.

Community members attended to discuss the tax rate and concerns regarding the school district.

Cheyenne Clutter requested a waiver to attend North Daviess R-3 in order to attend the Vocational Career Center in Bethany. After returning to open session from executive session, the board agreed to give the waiver.

An update was presented on repairs of the high school restrooms and the carpet in the elementary building.

The board accepted the bid from Mefford Pest Control for the 2008-09 school year.

The annual secretary of the board report was approved, and the board re-adopted the current Ethics Commission Policy.

During administrative reports Ms. Morris announced that the school district meets requirements in implementing the requirements and purposes of the IDEA.

Mrs. Weldon announced that enrollment began Aug. 14. There were five students who went to see the Royals game on July 25.

The board entered into executive session for employee matters.

Next board meeting is Monday, Sept. 15 at the high school conference room.

Present at the Aug. 12 meeting of the North Daviess R-3 School District were board members Cecil McCrary, Jeremy Hunter, Debbie Ray, David Iddings, Jason Lewis and Axel Olson. Absent was Doug Baker.
