The fall sports seasons will be starting soon with a pep rally and varsity football team scrimmage at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22.

These events mark the start of fund-raising for the Gallatin Athletic Booster Club. a "wish list" of items for coaches. Funds also pay for scholarships to graduating senior athletes; food for some of the away games and meets; and to pay toward hosting the fall and winter sport banquets and the spring awards night; and to help support any other project that comes along.
In addition to running the concession stands the club will be selling embroidered blankets, scarves and hats, stadium chairs, seat cushions, shirts and other miscellaneous items along with memberships during the varsity football games.
Memberships this year will be $15 per family and $25 per business. For your membership you will be given a rally bandanna to wave during the games.
Money raised during the year helps provide
Last year the school was able to purchase $4,000 worth of new equipment for the athletes of all sports. The items purchased this past year included a new batting cage net for the softball team, a computer stat program for the basketball teams, a new scale and case for the wrestlers, new polo shirts for the golf teams and practice equipment for the track teams.
The Booster Club is also asking individuals to donate bottled water to be sent with the athletes to their away games. For your water donation you will receive a free gift.
The following will serve as officers for the 2008-09 school year: president Janet Rhoades; vice-president Jean Mott; secretary Diane McLey; treasurer Alicia Chrisman and membership committee chairperson Jan Humphrey.
All merchandise can be seen at the varsity football games or the Humphrey dental office. Water and memberships can be dropped off at the dentist’s office also.
The Booster Club meets at 6 p.m. on the first Sunday of each month at Breadeaux. Everyone is invited to attend.
