Gallatin varsity softball girls, coming off a school record 20-3 season with their second straight Grand River Conference title and second consecutive Class 1 quarterfinal appearance, open the 2008 season at home next Monday against non-conference Trenton.

Seniors Maggie Strange, Nicole Everman, Wren Tolen, Kaddie Mott and Courtney Ray lead the GHS girls into action next week.
Eight starters return for the Lady Bulldogs, including Strange, Everman, Tolen, Mott and Ray, and juniors Ashley Owens, Carly Boyd and Shelby Chadwick.
Strange, twice an all-state catcher, will team up with Boyd to give the Lady Bulldogs an experienced battery. Tolen, Owens, Chadwick and Ray return on the infield. Everman and Mott give Gallatin experience in the outfield.
Gallatin takes on Milan, also at home, next Tuesday and travels to Maysville Sept. 2 to open GRC play.
