Funeral services for Debra Whitt were held Sunday at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Gower. Graveside services were at McCrary Cemetery in Gallatin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McCrary Cemetery.

Debra Kay Whitt, 51, Agency, died, Aug. 7, 2008, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Whitt was born on Oct. 11, 1956, to Herbert Marshall and Mary Cathern (Fairchild) Hill in St. Joseph, where she grew up and in 1974 graduated from Lafayette High School. She then attended Methodist School of Nursing in St. Joseph where she received her nursing degree.

On May 7, 1976, she was united in marriage to Loren L. Whitt. After their marriage they lived in the St. Joseph area and in 1979 moved to the Gower and Agency areas where they made their home.

Mrs. Whitt worked as an OB Nurse for 25 years for Heartland Regional Medical Center where she had received the Nursing MVP Award.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her brother, Dale "Tony" Hill, and two nephews, Aaron and Dallas Hill.

Survivors include her husband, Loren, of the home, three children, Jared Whitt of Gallatin, Meleah Atha of Agency, and Maryssa Whitt of Wathena, Kan.; her father, Herbert M. Hill, Sr., Helena; three sisters, Myra Horton, Trenton, Sherry Hill, Helena, and Susan Merritt, Amazonia; one brother, Herbert M. Hill, Jr., St. Joseph; and five grandchildren.
