Access II Independent Living Center, Inc., has announced its second annual Disability Awareness Day Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 15 at the center in Gallatin.

It is hoped the event will raise awareness to people with disabilities, older adults and community agencies regarding the many services available and will provide an opportunity to advocate for needed change regarding disability.
Community agencies will be at the center providing information and performing health screenings.
Access II has four core services — information and referral; peer counseling; advocacy; and independent living skills training. Its service programs include consumer directed services program; transportation; internet access; American with Disabilities Act training, education, compliance and technical assistance; low vision center; durable medical equipment loan program; disability awareness programs; ramps/home modifications; telecommunications access program for the internet and telephone; community education; individualized education plan services; individual and systems advocacy; state and national legislative alerts, and a resource library.
