Funeral services for Harlene McElwee were held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 6) at Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial was in the Brown Cemetery at Gallatin.

Harlene L. McElwee, 87, a resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at the nursing home.

Mrs. McElwee was born Oct. 1, 1920, in Gallatin to Harley and Nannie Hager Holmes.

After graduating from Gallatin High School she moved to Kansas City and went to work at Armour Meat Packers, Westinghouse, and Seal-Rite.

On Dec. 24, 1955, she was untied in marriage to Donald McElwee in Harrisonville. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City, returning to the Gallatin area in the late 1960s. Mrs. McElwee moved to Trenton in 1995.

Mr McElwee preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Genieveve Holmes Mays.

Survivors include her nieces, Shirley Mays Rezek of Kansas City, and Sherry Mickey of Independence, as well as great-nieces and nephews.
